Leaving your Legacy

Securing our Future

A bequest is the ultimate gift. It is a way of expressing the affection you have for St Augustine’s College and a way of giving back.

What would you be prepared to give to enable a student to have the opportunity of a bursary at St Augustine’s?

How can you help with the preservation and care of our buildings so the next generation of students can experience an Augustinian education with all its richness?

Bequests are gifts with enduring impact that provide a lifetime legacy. If you are considering making a lasting gift to the College, we welcome your intention. We will work with you to ensure your donation will reflect your lifelong connection to St Augustine’s College.

Why should I leave a bequest?

There are many benefits from leaving a bequest, including the opportunity to honour a loved one, to leave behind a legacy and to serve as an inspiration to others. Your Will gives you the opportunity to decide how you will be remembered. It is a powerful expression of your values and can provide a gift that you may not be able to make during your lifetime.

How do I leave a bequest?

A bequest is made by including specific wording in your Will, directing a gift to St Augustine’s College. Bequests can be restricted to benefit a particular program, a building project or a bursary. Unrestricted gifts allow the College to use bequests in areas of specific need, as determined by the College.

It is recommended that you consult with your solicitor before finalising arrangements to ensure they are appropriate for your personal wishes.

Wording guidelines for unrestricted gifts or gifts to establish a bursary are available from our Community Co-ordinator.

What are the next steps I should take?

Bequests are unique and personal. Please consider discussing your wishes with the Community Co-ordinator at St Augustine’s College to ensure your intentions are fulfilled. All bequest correspondence is treated with the utmost confidentiality. To discuss your plans please contact: Community Co-ordinator, St Augustine’s College – Sydney:

Fr Dave Brimson OSA

Fr Brimson served at the College as Rector from 1956 to 1964 and died in 2004. He was a much-loved Augustinian priest, teacher and friend. Fr Brimson presided over the founding of the College, overseeing the construction of the first classrooms and major buildings.

Guided by our core values of Truth, Love and Community, we continue to honour his legacy by providing quality education in a contemporary learning environment.

Fr Brimson’s early work inspires the College today as we keep pace with change and continue to develop.

“I was happy to hear that the Nostalgia Group – the first generation of St Augustine’s College Old Boys – was keen to know about the College Bequest Program and requested that it be named in honour of the first Rector (Principal) Fr Dave Brimson OSA. Many of us who attended the College will remain grateful for how our adult lives have been enriched by our formative experience of education at the College. The Bequest Program provides a valuable opportunity to make some contribution to the education of future generations of students at the College. It is worthy of our consideration.”
Fr Peter Jones OSA (Class of 1976), Prior Provincial of the Australian Augustinians
