The College is seeking a dynamic and visionary full-time Director of Business and Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional finance leader to make a significant impact, following the retirement of our current Director.

The Director of Business and Finance leads the College's financial management, commercial activities, property and facilities, regulatory compliance and risk management.

This position is a member of the College’s Executive Leadership Team and sits on the Finance and Building Committees. The incumbent also functions as the Company Secretary.

As the Director of Business and Finance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading all aspects of the financial operations of the College at both a strategic and operational level, employing the highest standards of accounting and reporting practice
  • Strategically manage the College's resources, assets, investments and borrowings
  • Developing, monitoring and reporting on budgets, payroll and financial operations
  • Continually seek to improve the effectiveness of existing practices, business activities and financial operations
  • Safeguarding the College's assets and reputation through effective and proactive risk management for all legal and regulatory matters including regulatory compliance, reporting obligations and liaising with external authorities
  • Managing a team including departmental goals, objectives and operating procedures
  • Providing business case development, strategic option analysis, financial modelling and high-level commercial advice in the development and implementation of the College's strategic plans
  • Further developing and project managing the College's capital works programs
  • Performing the functions of the Company Secretary and actively participating as a member of the Finance and Building Committees.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to the Principal and the College Leadership in the development and implementation of long-term financial strategies
  • Driving continual improvement with our staff and students
  • Supporting the Augustinian Catholic culture of the College
  • Working effectively with the Principal and Executive Leadership Team to implement the aims and practices of the College
  • Contributing to the College's academic, spiritual, and co-curricular life.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Experience leading a financial operation, preferably with experience in an education context
  • Previous oversight and management of complex capital development programs and projects
  • Proven record of driving strategy development and providing the financial modelling/forecasting, commercial analysis and business planning to implement projects
  • Experience in leading across financial, legal, compliance, risk management and regulatory matters
  • Superb leadership and interpersonal skills to create a positive team culture and develop individual capabilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to think innovatively
  • A record of delivering continual improvement of business and financial processes
  • A proven record of implementing efficient, flexible and contemporary practices and procedures
  • Sound strategic thinking and decision-making skills and the ability to manage resources efficiently, effectively and sensitively
  • A commitment to child safety
  • The ability to work collaboratively with peers and leadership
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Previous experience as a Company Secretary

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for this position you will have significant experience working in finance and hold appropriate qualifications, including either CA or CPA. Prior management experience is essential and experience working in a school or education environment will be highly regarded.
