The College is seeking a highly organised and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Library Services Specialist. This role is crucial in supporting the efficient running and maintenance of the ARC and its collections. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for promoting library services through various channels.

This position is ideally full-time but could be part-time (minimum 30 hours/week) based on the needs of the successful candidate. The role works during term time and includes several weeks work during non-term time to support holiday programs.

Please note this is not a Teacher Librarian role.

As Library Services Specialist, you be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Library, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment and organising and maintaining the College's physical and digital collection. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Resource management
  • Promotion of library services
  • Events and program management
  • Educational support
  • Student supervision
  • Curriculum support
  • Managing circulation and loans
  • Collection maintenance

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Completion of degree or post-graduate level Library & Information Studies is highly desirable.
  • Eligible for professional memberships to ALIA or equivalent.
  • Experience in library information systems applications, collections and services
  • High level knowledge of library and information management principles
  • Demonstrated experience working in a library - School experience would be highly regarded
  • A deep understanding of literature
  • The ability to foster love and passion for reading in students
  • Capacity to develop procedures and guidelines, in consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of library and information service concepts, principles, and theory, and a sound understanding of library systems, practices, procedures and current developments
  • Demonstrated understanding of the technologies relevant to libraries and the ability to support changing library technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
