Thredbo Interschools 2025: St Augustine’s College Mountain Bike Team Rides to Glory

From 3 to 7 March this year, 48 of St Augustine’s College’s top mountain bike (MTB) riders took on the competition with determination, skill, and unwavering team spirit.

This annual Thredbo MTB Interschools Competition is one of the most exhilarating school sporting events in the country, bringing together young riders from across Australia to compete on some of the most challenging and exciting mountain biking trails.

A Team Effort Across All Divisions

Our riders competed across four divisions, showcasing the depth of talent and commitment in the College’s MTB program:

  • Division 4 (Years 5 & 6): 6 riders

  • Division 3 (Years 7 & 8): 18 riders

  • Division 2 (Years 9 & 10): 15 riders

  • Division 1 (Years 11 & 12): 9 riders

The week was filled with adrenaline-pumping action, breathtaking descents, and inspiring sportsmanship. Whether contending for podium spots or simply striving to complete the courses with confidence, every rider gave their all, embodying the Augustinian spirit of perseverance and camaraderie. We are so proud of how they all represented the College, and for the support and respect they showed each other, their competitors, and the Thredbo environment.

Taking on Thredbo’s Challenging Trails

The competition featured four distinct race formats, each testing different aspects of the riders’ skill sets and endurance:

  • Maxxis All-Mountain - A 6km enduro-style track that combined rock rolls, pinch climbs, and steep switchbacks, putting riders’ fitness and technical ability to the test.

  • Fox Flow Motion Cup - A high-speed 5km race down the famous Kosciuszko Flow Trail, requiring precision and endurance.

  • Rockshox Downhill - The most technical event and raced on a black trail (being the lower half of the renowned Cannonball Downhill track), which features rock gardens, rough chutes, and large jumps at high-speed.

  • Deity Pump Track - An electrifying event held under the setting sun, where riders had to pump, double, and manual their way around a sculpted course, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd. This track was the ultimate test of skill and stamina, and the atmosphere was unbeatable.
